Three Ways To Win The SEO Game As A Homebuilder

As a home builder, you’re always on the lookout for new customers. And it’s likely you know that when you maintain high search results rankings, you get more traffic to your website. But search engine optimization (SEO), which garners you that traffic, is a game that requires you to stay one step ahead of the competition at all times. To win, you’ll want to keep these three tips in mind.

    Create a backlink strategy

A backlink is one website mentioning and linking to another website. Google uses an algorithm in order to determine what information getting published online is useful. And backlinks are part of that algorithm. But Google doesn’t simply count how many backlinks you use on your site (which includes your web pages and blogs). It also assigns these backlinks a values ranking. Combined, the number of links and their level of value determine your rankings in search results. While no one knows how Google assigns value, you can’t go wrong when you choose to use links that are relevant and from a trustful source.

    Write more content

Create, create, create. Adding a constant stream of fresh content to your website is the best way to make it appealing to both search engines and visitors. You can create keyword-based articles or you can pump out industry-related news. Make sure what you post is both fresh and valuable and you’ll be sure to see a rise in traffic. Plus when you write content that potential customers can relate to, they share it—which increases the number of backlinks to your site. And as mentioned about above, a good backlink strategy is a great way to improve your SEO ranking.

    Use keywords that convert

What keywords are you using to target your audience? Why those keywords? Many homebuilders get caught up in trying to rank for highly popular keywords. But just because a keyword produces a large audience doesn’t mean it’s valuable. This is especially true for high competition keywords. Sometimes it can be better to dive deeper into your keyword research and find the less popular but still often searched for phrases. You can reach a more varied audience and not have to compete as hard for the top spot—or spend as much money.

SEO is a game that’s hard to win in the home building industry. But you can come out on top when you use a smart strategy. Need help creating a strategy that will work for you? Meredith Communications offers SEO services. Learn more about what we do and how we can help you!
