Home Builder Marketing Mondays: Thompson Homes Launches New Website
November 6, 2017Thompson Homes has been building homes in northwestern Kentucky for over 60 years, with a tradition of excellence that now extends into its third generation. As a family-owned company, they approach business differently than other builders – focusing on their core values of delivering uncompromised quality, integrity and customer service to their clients.
We were honored that Thompson chose us to build a new mobile responsive website for them that showcases their homes and communities in Evansville, Newburgh and Owensboro KY. We partnered with Thompson’s advertising agency Group Two on this project to ensure that the website would fit in with the home builder’s existing marketing strategy. For instance, we used the color grey for call-to-action buttons and the color green in header fonts to complement Thompson’s brand.
The homepage features large, high-quality images, an interactive map that showcases the builder’s new home communities, testimonials from satisfied buyers, links to the company’s recent blog articles, and social media icons which let web visitors easily connect with Thompson Homes on sites like Facebook, Houzz, and Pinterest.
Users can easily visit other sections of the website from the home page, including a photo gallery, move-in ready homes, and a Homeowner Toolkit, which features a large collection of resources and information for anyone seeking to buy a new home. There are also links that allow users to customize their new home search by selecting a particular community, square foot range, # of bedrooms, bath, and garage.
The website’s header features a prominent “Book a Tour” call-to-action graphic that is visible on every page. This makes it easy for web users to schedule a time to see the company’s homes.
One of the goals we had for the Thompson website was to make it easy for the user to get as much of the home buying information they needed from one page. We designed the “Find Your Home” page to allow prospective home buyers to view Communities, Available Homes and Home Designs all on the same page per market. This gives Thompson a competitive edge over other home builder websites. Most web visitors have to view separate pages for communities, homes, and designs, which can lead to user frustration and site abandonment.
Thompson also hired us to manage their blog and provide search engine optimization (SEO) services to ensure their website can be easily found online by people searching for new homes in Kentucky.
